Electric Muscle Stimulation and Injury Rehabilitation; Success Stories from Essex

Here’s how EMS has contributed to a better quality of life, enhanced pain management and sped up the rehabilitation process by 20% to 30% for Essex based clients of Andrew Stokes.

Often considered as a treatment and training in one, Electric Muscle Stimulation training has EMS has a diverse range of applications. Whether it be building dynamic strength and speed, or increasing the rate of recovery, it’s a useful supplementary tool in a vast array of client scenarios.

PT and XBody Master Trainer Andrew Stokes of Chelmsford, Essex has been recording some incredible results in rehabilitation at his clinic using a blend of traditional practices with EMS.

The first example comes from an individual with an undiagnosed back problem which caused her a lot of pain. Being hypermobile and suffering from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, using a wheelchair was necessary for this woman as walking her dogs for long distances had become too excruciating.

Over a period of 4 to 5 weeks and a blend of traditional treatments and EMS training, the woman managed to return to crutches thanks to better pain management and shortly after, didn’t use crutches at all, able to take her dogs for long walks again.

In another scenario, a client of Andy’s suffering with the chronic illness Ankylosing Spondylitis (the fusing of the spine), saw incredible effects with EMS training when it was applied to make muscles surrounding the spine activate in order to slow down fusion.

Whilst there is no cure for Ankylosing Spondylitis, symptoms like associated back injuries, herniations and spondyloarthritis can be reduced with the application of EMS.

Over a treatment period of 12 weeks, this individual saw significant improvements in pain and mobility when a blend of traditional treatments and EMS were applied. Her quality of life significantly improved thanks to better pain management.

“I’m in the business of improving the quality of life for people who are suffering from mobility and pain issues and/or chronic illnesses, which stop them from living a normal life. Applying EMS as a rehab solution, to strengthen muscles and manage pain, has proven incredibly beneficial for my clients.”

“I've been able to speed up the rehab process by 20% to 30%. Most of my clients have never been better since we incorporated EMS into their treatment plan.” - Andrew Stokes
